Fall and winter windstorms are when we get the most emergency calls. A little prep now can save you a lot of stress later.
Before the storm
- Walk your yard and look up. Note dead branches, cracks and leaning trees.
- Have limbs over the roof, driveway and power lines checked and trimmed.
- Clear gutters and drains so heavy rain doesn't soften the soil around roots even more.
- Save our number in your phone: (253) 555-0148.
If a tree comes down
- Stay clear. Assume any wire touching the tree is live. Call your utility and 911 if lines are down.
- Take photos from a safe distance before anything is moved. Your insurance company will want them.
- Call us. We answer storm calls around the clock and can usually get there the same day to make things safe.
- Check your policy. Many homeowner policies help with removal when a tree hits a covered structure. Your agent can tell you exactly what's included.
Should you cut it yourself?
Storm-damaged trees are under tension in ways that aren't obvious, which makes them far more dangerous than a normal removal. Leave this one to a trained, insured crew.
